A Beautiful Day

June 28, 2023, a beautiful day for many reasons. After a solid week of rain and darkness, today was a sunny, warm, gorgeous day and the perfect day to honor a true American hero. Marine Staff Sergeant Ben Webb, served his country with two tours of duty in Afghanistan and a third in Iraq He suffered injuries to his legs and among other things post traumatic stress. After returning home from duty and post Superstorm Sandy Sgt Webb’s Union Beach home was sinking and the contractor he paid to fix it duped him. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation and our friend Kathy Cunningham stepped in and built Ben Webb a brand new, mortgage free home on his land in Union Beach. Today was the day he was presented with the keys.

June Mellinger and I (Eileen DiPietro) had the honor of witnessing this day. We boarded a bus with Team Shamrock, Kathy’s fundraising team, at the Atlantic Club in Wall and made the trip to Union Beach. It was a beautiful experience on this beautiful day.

We, the Jersey Shore MQG, gifted Sergeant Webb a quilt to welcome him in his new home.

I think he likes it!!

This is not the first time we’ve gifted a smart home recipient with a quilt, we were there to welcome Scott Nokes into his new home in Howell and we continue to work with Kathy Cunningham and Team Shamrock in their fundraising efforts for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

  1. Wow! What a sweet thing to do. Love, love, love that. I went to a Quilts of Valor presentation in S.C. with my sister who is in a quilt guild there and it was very moving. The veterans were very appreciative, a couple of them shed a few tears even. Our Vets are worthy of love, acts of kindness and good gifts. A beautiful quilt for his wonderful new home 💞
