Tulip Time at the JSMQG

Would you look at all of those amazing tulips!!

Tulips were the theme of our monthly block lotto and they did not disappoint! I can’t wait to see how winner, Barbara P puts these together.

Some of us took the tulip theme next level and couldn’t resist making all sorts of things

Laura K whipped up this impressive wall hanging!
MaryJane P got out her graph paper and started making tulip blocks in multiple sizes

We had a JellyRoll Reunion! some of us who made jellyroll race quilts at our last sew in reunited them at our meeting!

Every meeting of the Jersey Shore MQG includes an educational/instructional portion. This month our resident Art Teacher, Brooke C, gave us an in depth look at the Color Wheel. Brooke schooled us in color and value, secondary and tertiary colors, and how to use the color wheel to pull fabrics for a quilt. It was really very interesting. Thank you Brooke!

Never a shortage of Show and Tell from our membership either. This month we tried something a little different and asked to see Spring themed projects

A cute finish from Elizabeth who just returned from her winter stint in Florida
Speaking of tulips, MaryJane brought in her first ever tulip themed quilt from the 90s.
Some spring themed pansies from Susan A!
Two cute little bunny wall hangings from Eileen D

It wasn’t all flowers and bunnies though, here’s some more pretties from our members and guests

Newer member Laura K says we are inspiring her to finish some old works in progress. Happy to be if service Laura!! Great job on the blue and white wall hanging and this gorgeous Stitch Happens sampler! You’ve now inspired me to make mine since I have the pattern about five years now!
Camielle M wows is every time with her pillows. These Jersey Shore ladies loved the crab!
Brandy B showed us her SuperNova quilt and honestly who does not love a good pieced backing!! Bravo 👏
Proud plant lover, Julia P, created this adorable quilted basket/plant holder. How cute!!
Our guest, Wendy, created quite a stir when she showed us this string pieced star quilt. It’s was all the buzz and everyone wants to make one. Stick around we may just be doing a string piecing program in the future!
Brooke needed a quilt for a new baby, how cute is this!
And of course then big brother will need one too so Brooke had these two finishes!
This beauty was made by Elizabeth!
Another guest, Susan G, gave us the honor of debuting her first, ever quilt at our meeting. How great is that! And that backing she chose is absolute perfection. Great job Susan!
Christine S showed us this pillow and shockingly there was an incredible amount of interest in learning this technique. I think we can make that happen. Thanks Christine!

Sherre was busy this month. Here’s a few she turned out!

There’s lots of good things in the works here at the JSMQG including ice dying, barn quilts, our annual outdoor meeting and potluck and a trip to a bar! That’s right! We will be attending the annual fundraiser of Team Shamrock as a group, at Bar A this summer where we will have a quilt as part of the gift auction. That should be so much fun. Stay tuned!
