February 2023

Here we are in February already and our ever popular block lotto block was “Hearts on Point”. Brooke told us to make scrappy hearts in pink or red on a scrappy low volume background. How stinkin cute are these and lucky Denise got to call them hers! I cannot wait to see how she puts them together.

MaryEllen enjoyed this block so much she made herself a table topper how fun?!!
You’ll never guess what we’re making for March?! Scrappy shamrocks on an off white background. Each of us will contribute two blocks, one for the winning member and one for us to make a quilt for Team Shamrock (Tunnel to Towers) August fundraiser at Bar Anticipation in Lake Como. Kathy Cunningham is gonna love this one!

Our meeting consisted of a quick business portion and show and tell. We had so much to talk about our exhibit that was opening in just a few days that we skipped having our monthly program. So here’s our little quilt parade.

Brooke did show us one of her completed jelly roll quilts and has organized a jelly roll sew-in for March 25th. She’ll be teaching the group her methods for making these.
First up June with her mini quilt she made for her MQG partner. These swaps take place during Quilt Con either in person if you’re both attending or virtually. This came out great June!
This bargello beauty is made by Dev H, only a few days earlier she was in Old Spool purchasing 12 different fabrics for this. It’s gorgeous and inspired by the northern lights.
Deb hasn’t been with us for a while so she had a few to show like this pretty!
And this one,
A great string quilt from Linda D.
Linda has also been busy appliquéing these trucks for a quilt for her grandson
Here we have Julia showing off a quilt made by her husband Patrick! Awesome!!
Another jelly roll quilt by Brooke.
Brooke gave us a sneak peek at her “Stay at Home Quilt” which will be featured in our exhibit. It holds some beautiful meanings for her, isn’t it great!
Brigit too gave us a peek at her mini quilt for the exhibit, a tiny reminder of her baby quilt. She did a great job!!
We had a guest tonight. Not only did Susan bring this runner to show us, she actually became our latest member. So happy to have you Susan!!
And another runner that Susan made.
MaryJane brought this little stunner in to show us. It is the first quilt she ever entered into a exhibit. She also brought in a photo of herself with the quilt at the show in 1984?
This cute panel is the start of a a bag that Pam will be selling at the exhibit and marked the proceeds to go to the guild. Very generous of you Pam!
We all loved this one Anne brought in to show!

Last but not least, Sherre missed a meeting so she had quite a few finishes to show us.

This was one of the ShopHop quilts.
Pretty!
Cute owls!!

That’s it for now.

Hope to see all of you at our first official quilt exhibit at the Belmar Arts Center. The show runs from 2/14-3/11. Join us for our opening reception on Saturday February 18th from 3-5!!

Stay tuned for lots of photos from this event.
