Art in the Neighborhood

What are your plans for March? How about a trip to the Long Branch Arts and Cultural Center to take in a new exhibit opening on March 9th and running through March 27th? In celebration of Women’s History Month, the Long Branch Arts and Cultural Center is showcasing Rebellion and Renewal, a brand new exhibit featuring local artists, including some of our own members of the Jersey Shore Modern Quilt Guild! At least two of our members answered the call for art and will be featured.

Our own Lisa Verni submitted two pieces to the exhibit. First, Reweaving Radiance, an art quilt with a corresponding poem an ode to her mother.

Lisa has another mixed media piece and corresponding story in the exhibit, also a tribute to her mom‘s patriotism and the causes she championed for, entitled IN-Justice. Lisa’s art and writings are very powerful and moving, a must see!

Also on display is Today’s a Gift by Marti Chamberlain, our current guild President. Marti’s fiber interpretation of words of daily affirmation is based off of a poem written in 1904.
