June and Pride

Every year in June, the members of the JSMQG have a fun get together, either at our meeting space or a members home. This year we did just that at Old Spool where we meet and a great time was had by everyone. There was no shortage of food, sweets, and a fantastic scrap bag swap!! Since June also happens to be Pride month, our monthly block lotto, designed by the talented Lauren C, was a Pride themed star block. This might’ve been my personal favorite thus far, I just loved the colors!

Just look at these gorgeous blocks as they started to arrive at the meeting!

We love the new seating arrangements our hosts Julia and Patrick came up with for us! A quick business meeting and then all about swapping, eating and tons of show and tell.

Getting some business out of the way.
MaryJane’s brainchild quilt, which you will be seeing a lot of coming soon!
Auditioning backing fabrics for said quilt.
Brooke schooling the crowd on her watermelon themed log cabin block for the July block lotto
Last fall while all of us were doing a jelly roll race quilt, Brigit took it next level with her own modern take on a jelly roll quilt. Absolutely in awe of this!
The back of Brigit’s quilt
June M showed us a mystery quilt she made while on a retreat.
Laura S has been quite busy knocking things off her WIP list. This is fresh from the longarm quilter, our own Sherre M
Also Laura S, this was the December block lotto winnings and she added the stars!
Last but certainly not least, Laura’s freshly quilted Looper quilt!!
One of our newer members, Cathy F, just completed her Old Spool Shop Hop quilt! This is how Cathy came to be a member and we sure are happy that she is!!
Adele has managed to wow us yet again with this incredible Llama quilt.
Brandy, spreading her wings and sewing garments! How great is this skirt she made?!!
Eileen D also wore her show and tell, with this dress she made with Essex Linen and Liberty print accents she bought at Old Spool.
MaryEllen C clearly kept busy while she was gone from us this winter. Amazing use of scraps.
And another from MaryEllen
Patchwork of sorts, Brooke crocheted this patchwork blanket. She also donated it to our Community Outreach stash. Someone will love this and be cozy too!

No pictures of the amazing spread of food and treats we had. The rest of the evening was spent with good friends, chatting, eating and shopping for more fabric!
