When You Have a Notion

When you have a notion, a sewing notion that is, your sewing skills get taken up a notch (pun intended) or two!! We had the notion to show ours off this month at our meeting. Just when you think you’ve seen them all, you have not. Our members show off their favorite tools and notions from their studios and it was kind of crazy the things we didn’t know were out there. Julia was just itching to introduce us to her favorite sewing notion, the buttonhole spacing tool and the corresponding cutting tool that eliminates the need for using a seam ripper and risking cutting a little too far into your buttonhole.

Now this was a new one for almost everyone. The “Cotton Picker” Denise uses in her sewing studio to clean up all those lose threads on her quilts and her clothes. Amazing. Lint roller who?
These little beauties are perfect for getting all that lint that collects under the needle plate of your sewing machine, you know that stuff your supposed to be cleaning after every project!
So here’s a little cutie notion that Sherre brought in, a cutting device to snip those chain pieced blocks in a jiffy and it uses your discarded rotary blades. Clever! You know what else we learned? It seems Sherre is our resident notion queen! She literally gave us a trunk show of notions!!

There were so many new and useful little tools and notions, they may deserve their own blog post.

Let’s talk about April showers.

Just in time for all those April showers, our block lotto queen herself, Brooke, won all these bright umbrellas!!

As usual the show and tell is a fan favorite and never disappoints in this guild. There is a lot of talent among us.
